Chemical storage tanks

Chemical storage tanks are pressure vessels designed to safely contain and store corrosive, hazardous, or industrial fluids. Constructed with a robust outer shell (typically carbon steel or stainless steel) and often lined with corrosion-resistant materials like PTFE/PFA, they isolate aggressive media to prevent leakage, chemical attack, and environmental risks. Operating under controlled pressure and temperature, they provide stable, long-term storage for acids, alkalis, solvents, and other process fluids in chemical, pharmaceutical, and industrial applications.

Product Overview

Our horizontal chemical storage tank is a high-performance pressure vessel designed for safe, long-term storage of corrosive chemicals, acids, alkalis, solvents, and other industrial media. Built with a carbon steel outer shell lined with PTFE/PFA/PVDF (or available in stainless steel), the tank combines structural strength with exceptional chemical inertness, making it ideal for aggressive process environments.

Available in custom sizes (volume: 1–100 m³), pressure ratings, and nozzle configurations, it meets strict ASME/GB150 standards and supports atmospheric, pressure, and vacuum storage applications. The horizontal design optimizes plant space and simplifies installation, inspection, and maintenance.

Key Features & Advantages

Superior Corrosion Resistance

  • Fluoropolymer lining (PTFE/PFA/PVDF) provides full isolation from corrosive media, resisting strong acids, alkalis, and organic solvents

  • Lining thickness: 3–8mm, with spark-tested quality control to ensure zero pinholes

  • Stainless steel options (304/316L) available for food-grade or general chemical applications

Robust Structural Design

  • Carbon steel shell with pressure vessel certification (ASME/GB150)

  • Reinforced saddle supports and end closures for stable, leak-free operation

  • Precision-engineered flanges and seals prevent media leakage

Flexible Customization

  • Volume: 1–100 m³ (custom sizes available)

  • Operating pressure: -0.1–1.6 MPa

  • Operating temperature: -20–200℃ (fluorine-lined) / up to 450℃ (stainless steel)

  • Custom nozzle layouts, manholes, level gauges, and heating/cooling jackets

Safety & Compliance

  • Factory hydrostatic pressure testing and lining spark inspection

  • Anti-overflow, anti-corrosion, and pressure relief accessories available

  • Compliant with international chemical storage safety standards

Low Total Cost of Ownership

  • Fluorine-lined design eliminates the need for expensive alloy materials

  • Long service life (up to 15 years with proper maintenance)

  • Easy access for cleaning, inspection, and repairs

Working Principle

The horizontal chemical storage tank operates as a static pressure vessel for the safe containment of industrial media:

The tank is filled with liquid or gaseous chemicals through designated inlet nozzles.

The fluoropolymer lining prevents direct contact between corrosive media and the steel shell, eliminating chemical attack and leakage risks.

Pressure relief valves and vent systems maintain internal pressure within safe limits, preventing overpressure or vacuum conditions.

The horizontal orientation ensures uniform load distribution and simplifies liquid level monitoring, sampling, and draining.

Reinforced saddles support the tank, ensuring stable placement on plant foundations.

Applications

  • Chemical Industry: Storage of acids, alkalis, solvents, and intermediate chemicals

  • Pharmaceutical & Fine Chemicals: Storage of raw materials, solvents, and process fluids

  • Environmental Protection: Wastewater treatment chemicals, neutralization agents, and hazardous waste storage

  • Petrochemical Industry: Storage of crude oil fractions, fuels, and process chemicals

  • Food & Beverage: Storage of food-grade acids, additives, and processing liquids (stainless steel options)
